Gary -- I appreciate the feelings of the others who have responded to your question. What makes you feel good is good most of the time, but these folks must just have money to burn. Fuel required is a function of compression and atmosphere. The Savage has a mild state of tune. Only high compression engines really require premium fuels. Here in Kansas I regularly run regular unleaded 87 octain with no problems whatsoever. On occasion I also run 10% alcohol fuel when regular is not available, also with no problems! Truth, it seems is what you experience for yourself.
